3 tips to keep in mind as an emcee (master of ceremonies) for an event are:
i. Have one key point of contact
At events, in the excitement, there could be many people suggesting actions that need to be taken. This can lead to confusing signals and possible embarrassments of ‘he said’, ‘she said’. Insist on one POC and any suggestions should be routed through that one person.
ii. Have a clear event flow, but be ready for modifications.
A clear plan of the event flow gives an emcee clarity on the sequence of events. However, always be prepared for modifications along the way.
Stay calm backstage, modify when required, and move forward.
iii. You are the event ambassador
Just like brands have brand ambassadors, so also the emcee is the event ambassador. You begin and end the event with multiple appearances on stage. Your poise, composure and enthusiasm play a key role in elevating the event. Be aware, be alert and give your best.
Hope these 3 tips help you when you emcee your next event.
