5 WORKSHOP TRAINING TIPS that have helped me in conducting corporate training sessions.

1.AUDIENCE CONNECT - Be intentional about making connections with your audience. Learn participants' names and spend time getting to know them before you begin formally. This helps in building bridges with your audience.

2. KNOW YOUR GOAL - Every training segment has a flow of thought. It's vital that you have a clear idea of the training goal per segment.  When you have clarity on what you want to achieve, there is a higher chance of you achieving the same.

3. ENGAGEMENT - The effectiveness of a workshop depends on audience engagement. Be intentional about inserting questions for your audience. Listen and recognize them for sharing their perspective. Make sure your examples (stories) are relevant to your audience, as this will cause them to open up and connect with you.

4. ATMOSPHERE - As a trainer, we are responsible to create an atmosphere that is conducive for the training of our course.

I enjoy creating an atmosphere that is friendly, approachable and challenging. Also, bring in appropriate humour that causes your audience to relax and laugh with you.

5. SENSITIVITY - A trainer needs to be sensitive to meet the team where they are mentally and emotionally. Being sensitive enables you to be a good listener, understand the capacity of participants and adapt your style, so that we can accomplish our training goals. Also being time sensitive, starting and ending each segment on time wins the respect of your audience.

It was a wonderful opportunity to conduct a workshop on presentation skills and people skills with an awesome team of participants (teaching and non teaching staff) of JBCN International School Chembur. Learning was fun with interaction, participation and lots of laughter.
